A casino will open in Macau under the unlucky name "13

The new Asian casino will be located at The 13 Hotel on the border of Cotai and Coloana.

Hong Kong-based 13 Holdings Ltd, which operates tourism properties on the continent, has asked the Macau government to grant a casino license to install a gambling parlor at its local hotel, The 13.

China’s Ministry of Tourism has announced that it will first inspect the hotel. The inspection will be carried out within 20 days from the date of receipt of the request. If the establishment, food, drinks, and other facilities within the establishment pass inspection, a license will be issued.

This project initially suffered financial setbacks. And then the hotel’s founder, Stephen Hoon, stepped down as chief executive earlier this year. This has added uncertainty regarding the issuance of a casino license.

The casino is expected to host 66 tables with minimum stakes and about 50 slot machines with maximum limit. However, it remains to be seen if the project obtains a gambling license.
