Commenting on the addition of a new property to Live! Jon Cordish, director of The Cordish Companies, said:
Live! Casino Pittsburgh is a world-class establishment that will set the gold standard for gambling, dining and entertainment in the region.
Live! Casino Pittsburgh will generate $ 188 million in annual economic revenue and another $ 148 million in construction benefits. The property is expected to generate $ 47.5 million in tax revenue. When it reaches full capacity, more than 500 permanent jobs will be created for local and regional residents.
New State Senate Majority Leader Kim Ward said:
The creation of hundreds of new permanent, well-paid jobs at this particular point in time is a real testament to the value this project brings to our region.
Live! Casino Pittsburgh marks the brand’s debut in Pennsylvania. It is the first mini-casino to open its doors in the state after Governor Tom Wolf approved a massive expansion of the Pennsylvania casino industry in 2017. In the course of a large-scale reform, up to 10 satellite mini-casinos were created in different parts of the state. The Pennsylvania Gambling Control Board has issued five licenses for mini casinos.
Besides Live! Casino Pittsburgh, The Cordish Companies is also gearing up to open Live! Casino Philadelphia. It will be a full-fledged casino complex located in the heart of Philadelphia’s stadium district and due to open its doors in early 2021. This will be the second full-fledged casino in the city and will end Rivers Casino Philadelphia’s long-standing monopoly on the local market.
